Buying Used Apple Laptops
Even though you think you can’t afford one, it’s not too difficult to get really good used apple laptops for a reasonable price. I’d long thought I couldn’t afford one, especially now with all the financial problems. But, whilst searching the ‘net, I found a really great site offering all kinds of used laptops for sale.
Buying laptops second hand shouldn't be a worry. The site offers every different model that apple have produced, making it really easy to find the used apple laptop to suit your budget and requirements. This was especially useful to me, because I’m a late convert to everything Apple – I lingered for many years in PC hell!!
Apple computers have always been excellent machines, beautifully designed with software to match. Their iLife software offers seamless integration with your ipod and itunes, and if you’ve got a video camera, just plug it in, download your footage, edit it and burn it to a DVD. Try doing that on a PC. You’d have to buy lots of software, but it’s all as standard on a mac.
You can even find the latest used apple laptops at great reductions on list price. Offer. But if they’re out of your budget range, even the models that are now discontinued are real bargains. I'd personally recommend a PowerBook G4. Full of great features, it was over $1300 when new a few years ago, and recently there were ones on eBay for an absolute steal at $250 - a great, cheap used laptop (I’m a bit biased because that was the one I bought myself!)
Here's afew of the things I learnt to look out for - make sure you check out the specifications quite carefully too - there were lots of options on many of the different laptops, and you can get very highly specification ones for a fraction of their original cost.
Wherever you buy from online, you should always email the seller, asking questions about the product and their service. One of the first things you should make sure of is – does your used apple laptops come with an adapter, and does the battery work?
Get the correct OS (Operating System) - make sure it is at least OS 10.3, and if your choice of used apple laptop is the G3 ‘Clambook’ be warned – this isn’t the original OS that machine was designed to run on, so you might get into trouble if you want to run the latest applications.
Check out the site Used Apple Laptops - follow the guide lines on the site, and you won’t go too far wrong. Perhaps you’ll soon be the proud owner of a Powerbook, just like me!
